 Janet's Views and Reviews

Janet Henderson Hello! My name is Janet M. Henderson, and I am the author of a recently released Christian romance novel entitled Jackie and the Preacher (2011) about a high class call girl who goes to church and changes her life. Lunch With Cassie (2005), a romantic thriller about a doctor's wife and photographer who learns that the perfect man she married may not be so perfect after all.

In my second novel The Assassin Who Loved Her (2008), a former FBI agent and his twin brother, a Hollywood heartthrob up for an Oscar, both fall in love with a journalist who is being stalked by a serial killer.

I believe our economy is getting better. We have to think (and speak) positively in order for it to happen! Our president has good ideas. Let's help him make them work.

I hear the real estate industry is rebounding. That alone is good news. I knew we would have a cold winter because the weather in October was pretty chilly. Does that mean we'll have a long, hot summer? I hope so. We haven't had a really hot one in Chicago for quite a few years now.

I still think Americans need to read more books. Some people only read when the movie comes out,and that's okay. The important thing is to read at all. With computers, video games and cell phones, people rarely have time anymore. I liked Emily Giffin's book Something Borrowed.

I want to read The Confession by John Grisham. And I still want to see his book The Partner become a movie. Right now I am reading one of my favorite romance writers, Jacquie D'Alessandro. Sleepless at Midnight, Confessions at Midnight, Seduced at Midnight, and Tempted at Midnight, all feature four women who read racy novels as part of their book club selections. Each time they read a book one of them falls in love! Each of the four stories is their individual love story. I like romance and can't wait to see Jumping the Broom.. There are several other books on my reading list, but that's enough for now. I'm still at work on my next book. I have no idea when it will be released.

African American romance lovers will enjoy Arabesque Romance novels published by BET. There is also a book club called Black Expressions.

Stephen L. Carter, a Yale law school professor, author of The Emperor of Ocean Park and New England White, is my favorite murder/mystery author. The first, about a judge who dies suspiciously after getting mixed up with criminals, was very good. The second, about a womanizing professor/entrepreneur who is murdered by either a jealous woman or a jealous husband or boyfriend, is also good. All of his books are set on university campuses on the East Coast.

A very popular trend in fiction now is erotica, and it comes in different varieties. I don't usually read or write this genre, but many people do. I find myself reading regency romances, stories set back a century or two, expecially during a historic time period. The romance is very strong, but unfortunately, so is the grief. I still like spy thrillers. No one does a better job than Ken Follett or Daniel Silva. Whatever they write about World War II or espionage is too exciting to put down. Even their love stories are good!

On the Presidential front, The Incumbent by Brian McGrory is a real page-turner that will shock you. Absolute Power by David Baldacci will do the same. First Lady by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is another book about a woman who becomes president.

Stone 588 by Gerald A. Browne is a wonderful story about a diamond seller who unknowingly purchases a stone that has the power to heal. Whoever touches it, will be instantly cured of whatever ails them, mentally, physically, or emotionally. The only catch is that the person must have a good heart and good intentions. When I read the book, I thought it must've been a stone that Christ touched or something one of the Apostles prayed over, but it's really a great book. It offers faith and hope.

I could continue to list books, but I'll save some for later.

My second book The Assassin Who Loved Her , which is a love story, Hollywood novel and adventure story all rolled into one, was released last summer. It can be purchased at PublishAmerica.com, by the link below, or it can be ordered in any bookstore (ISBN: 978-1606-10424-8 or 1-60610-424-1). The same is true for Lunch With Cassie (ISBN:1-4208-6196-4) Follow the link below. Read the NOVELS page at janethenderson.net You can buy both books at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com and other sites.

You can find good books anywhere. There are great sales in every store and on many websites. So join a book club, visit Amazon.com or go to the library. I review just about every good book I read. So come back as often as you like. In the meantime, happy hunting!
